It’s designed to pique people’s curiosity and give them a simple overview of what you do, to see if they might be interested in learning more.
An elevator speech is a clear, brief message or “commercial” about you. It communicates who you are, what you're looking for and how you can benefit the other person. It's typically about 30 seconds, the time it takes people to ride from the top to the bottom of a building in an elevator.
